Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido has said ensuring unity among Nigerians relied on the shoulders of governors.
Lamido disclosed this when he received the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at his country home, Bamaina in Birnin kudu, Jigawa State.
DAILY POST reported that Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of the All Progressive Congress, APC, invited Governor Tambuwal of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to commission township road in Dutse the state capital and visited Sule Lamido.
The situation triggered rumours of the Governor’s plan to defect to the PDP.
While reacting on the visit, Alhaji Sule Lamido said love and trust in one another among Nigeria’s Governors, irrespective of political, religious, and ethnic differences would ensure unity among Nigerians.
“When ever there is disunity between Governors of PDP, APC and other political parties, then followers would be triggered for disunity, then there would be no peace, love and trust among Nigerians.
“I believe trust and love among Nigerians are the basic things needed to be restored, so without it you will find it difficult to Govern,” he said.
He noted that the invitation and acceptance of the invitation to come to Jigawa to commission projects is a clear message to Nigerians.
“If other Governors will copy what you (Tambuwal) and Badaru have done, I am sure peace, love and unity among Nigerians will be restored in this country,” he stated.
DAILY POST also reported that Governor Badaru and Tambuwal said the visit had nothing to do with politics but love and trust for one another.
