APC Rivers ticket: Magnus Abe loses suit against Tonye Cole

The Supreme Court has struck out an appeal filed by Senator Magnus Abe against the stay of execution of the judgment of the Federal High Court, which nullified the nomination of Tonye Cole and others as the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State in the 2019 general election

The court, on Monday, upheld the argument by lawyer to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

Fagbemi had argued that the records of proceedings at the lower court, filed by Senator Abe did not follow the rules of the Appeal Court to certify the said documents.

In his judgement, Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour noted that only a few of pages of the records of appeal were signed.

He said since most of the pages were not signed, it could be interpreted that they were Senator Abe’s personal documents.

Justice Rhodes-Vivour ordered parties to the appeal back to the Court of Appeal for the determination of the substantive appeal.

Abe had appealed an interlocutory decision of the Court of Appeal, which stayed the execution of the judgment of the High Court, which nullified the primaries of the APC in Rivers State.

Buhari vs Atiku: ‘I am coming to Nigeria’ – Nnamdi Kanu reveals why Saturday election may not hold

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has said the postponed presidential election for Saturday may not hold.

The IPOB Leader said this on Wednesday night in a live broadcast.

Describing election as ‘sham’, Kanu said Saturday polls may not hold because ‘Jubril of Sudan’ will be chased out of Nigeria.

Kanu lamenting about killings of Igbos spearheaded by some South east governors, further revealed that he is coming back to Nigeria soon.

He said: “There’s no government in the world that doesn’t know about IPOB and fortunately I met most of them, we don’t publish all on social media.

“All these saboteurs you see online don’t exist. Check their profile and you’ll understand they’re fake. Just ignore them.

“I’m coming to Nigeria, in power and glory. I’m coming fully prepared, whatever Nigerian government wants, we will do it there.

“We called for boycott of the Zoo. Nigeria was vibrating, we called it off they ran astray. That’s how powerful IPOB is.

“No amount of intimidation, arrest, killings will stop us from marching.

“Im not sure that their Sham election will hold on Saturday 23rd Feb; because Jubril will be chased back to Sudan, then you will know that Buhari is dead.

“There is no way Jubril can survive an election in this zoo.”

Further lamenting on Killings of IPOB members, Kanu called out Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, blaming him for orchestrating the genocide.

“As I am speaking now, IPOB members are being parked and taken to DSS custody in Abuja, masterminded by Obiano and others.

“Now that Obiano, Okezie Ikpeazu and other Igbo governors are hunting down and killing IPOB members, everyone is keeping quite.
But any day we decide to retaliate, everyone will start talking rubbish.”

Nigeria Election 2019: Atiku speaks on ‘cabal’ running his govt

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said he will be in charge of his government when he wins unlike President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

Atiku said he will not allow a cabal to run his government.

According to him, Buhari not being fully in control of government led to ‘current pains and sufferings in Nigeria’.

Atiku stated this while interacting with stakeholders from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state at the Trade Fair Complex on Wednesday, NAN reports.

“President Muhammadi Buhari is not fully in control of government that is what has led to the current pains and suffering in the country.

“If I get elected as President, 40 percent of my cabinet will be youth and education will be provided for all regardless of any affiliation, and my government will not be run by cabals like the present adminstration.”

“The women will be given their due and will not be relegated to the kitchen, while the physically challenged will be carried along accordingly,” Atiku said.

Nigeria Election: Real reason some leaders hate Buhari – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday spoke on why some leaders do not like President Muhammadu Buhari.

Osinbajo, appealing to Hausa community at a Town Hall meeting in Ikeja, Lagos State, said that some former leaders do not like Buhari because of his stand against corruption.

He said even Buhari’s enemies know he is an honest man and not a thief who stole money meant for Nigerians.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Arewa community leaders, drawn from Lagos State and other Southwest states, were present at the meeting.

“What we are hoping to see on Saturday is an affirmation, a vote for a man who has proven through the years to be a man of truth and honesty.

“The problem of our country is not that we don’t have enough money, the problem is that of leaders that we put there, many of them stole the money meant for the people.

“We are able to do more than even when they (previous administrations) are even earning more because the President is not a thief. Even his worst enemies, those who hate him, know that he is a man of truth.

“They know he is a man who will not steal the money of the people,” the VP said.

According to Osinbajo, it is unfortunate that the country has become a place where people who are in power believe that the country’s money belong to them and their friends.

He said that the stealing ended when Buhari became the President and that the government had achieved a lot with meagre revenue because of commitment to use public funds to better the lives of citizens.

He added: “Let us not have any doubt in our minds, the battle for power in this country is the battle between good and evil.

“There are some people who want to take the money of the country, there are some who want to use it for good.

“This is not a religious matter, you find thieves among the Christians, thieves among Muslims; you will find honest men among Christians, we find honest men among Muslims.

“I know one Muslim, who is an honest man, I know many, but one is Muhammadu Buhari. He is an honest man. Everybody, even his enemies know, he is an honest man.

“Let us not doubt in our mind at all, this next level that we are talking about by the Grace of God, the people of this country will begin to enjoy the fruits of all the sacrifice they have made in the last four years.”
