APC indirect primaries :Ex-Police Affairs minister speaks

Former Police Affairs minister and APC founding member, Dr Yakubu Ibrahim Lame has said that those who decided on indirect primary election in Bauchi state did so on their own.

Speaking with DAILY POST Thursday, he said the party can’t decide on indirect primary election without revisiting the grievances tabled before a competent court of law, and through the party at all levels.

Lame said, “Let me tell you that those who finally took the decision on indirect primary election in Bauchi state were in haste apparently to satisfy their sponsors but it does not reflect the collective views of the APC stakeholders.”

He described the decision as a slap and an attempt to force such ill decision on the party’s supporters and founding members.

According to the former minister, APC should not attempt to ignore their demand for justice which is before the court following alleged irregularities witnessed during the last congresses of the party.

“How can a party that want to continue in power by 2019 not afford to carefully entertain its members’ complaints to ensure justice. However, I personally await the pending court decision instead of obliging the indirect primary election,” he said.

Lame urged the APC national headquarters to expedite action with a view to ensuring that justice prevails instead of deciding on the mode of primary election, to save the party from drift.
