Ahmed Salkida raises alarm as new ‘Boko Haram group’ kill many in Zamfara

Several Nigerians were reportedly killed on Monday night after suspected armed bandits attacked some villages in Zamfara.

The armed bandits said to be a new component of Boko Haram reportedly attacked the Madaba village in Magami District in Zamfara at night while residents were asleep killing a dozen of residents.

This was disclosed in a series of tweets by Ahmad Salkida on Tuesday. Salkida is a journalist known to have access to Boko Haram leadership.

Salkida also raised the alarm over Boko Haram component disguising as ‘armed gang’ attacking villages, killing soldiers and kidnapping residents in Zamfara state.

He tweeted: “My earlier argument that there is a Boko Haram component in the crisis in Zamfara is reinforced by the modus operandi of the armed gangs, especially how they execute some of their victims. No doubt, there is a terrorism component, there is also the cattle rustling component, ethnic etc.

“Multiple sources report that Hajiya Ade Marafa was slaughtered by the terror gang operating in Zamfara, while the life of her husband, who is a village head, was spared. He was taken to one of their dens for likely ransom demands.

“Armed bandits in Zamfara abducted and subsequently killed a sister to a prominent politician in Zamfara, Senator Kabiru Marafa. Also, last night, bandits burnt down, Takoka, Tudun Wada Mai Jatau and Doka villages, killing scores and abducted 5 women.

“As we went to sleep, Madaba village in Magami District in Zamfara was attacked, with dozens killed and wounded. Also last night, a group of bandits invaded a house of a newly wedded couple in Birnin-Magaji and abducted the bride. This is everyday life in Zamfara.
“Yesterday bandits killed seven soldiers in Bini village of Maru Local Govt in Zamfara. The corpses of the soldiers that died in active service are currently deposited at the Federal Medical Centre Gusau. Information on last night attacks are only trickling in.”
