2019 presidency: What Niger Delta militants, Boko Haram did to my govt on assumption of power – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday recounted some of the challenges his government faced upon assumption of office to include the unleashing of Niger Delta militants on his administration.

Speaking during the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign rally at the Eagles Square, Abuja, Buhari also said Boko Haram was controlling some states when he assumed power.

He, however, stated that through dedication and hard work, his administration was able to overcome those challenges.

The president stated that despite controlling some states, his administration had subdued Boko Haram’s menace.

“When we came in, Boko Haram was controlling 17 local government areas and even operating here in Abuja but today that is no longer happening.

“What Boko Haram is doing now is to indoctrinate some young people. Our government faced so many challenges… militants were unleashed on my administration but we have been able to make progress,” he said.
