2019 elections: Jang promises Atiku, PDP 2 million votes in Plateau

A former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau North, Jonah Jang, on Monday boasted that the state will deliver two million votes for the PDP presidential flag bearer Atiku Abubakar, come February 16, 2019.

Jang accused the APC-led government in the country of taking the nation backward through its bad policies, adding that PDP would unseat it in the forthcoming polls.

He stated this while speaking at the Plateau State PDP gubernatorial zonal rally for the northern zone held in Jos South LGA of the State, where urged the APC to accept defeat and handover power to the winners of election on May 29.

“The ruling All Progressives Congress want to remain in power at all cost, but in 2015 when we (PDP) lost, we handed over to them; they should do same if they lose in 2019.

“Since 1999, no PDP presidential candidate had ever lost an election in Plateau State, and failure will not start in 2019.

“I want to urge Plateau people that during the forthcoming presidential polls, the PDP Presidential flag bearer should get two million votes in the state.

“As for me I have gone to the Senate as have realized that, I should give way for the younger ones to continue, that is why I have endorsed Hon. Istifanus Gyang as our Senator for Plateau North, and other PDP flag bearers in our zone.”

He added that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, and urged the citizenry to ensure that all candidates in the party are returned in the forthcoming polls.

In his address, Sen. Jeremiah Useni, State PDP governorship candidate, promised to end insecurity in the state if elected on March 2, 2019.

Useni, a retired Lt General said he would ensure peace returns to all parts of the state to pave way for even development.

He added that his government would put in place modalities that would end the lingering farmer-herder unrest in the state.

“I will end insecurity in Plateau and ensure peace return to all parts of the state if I become governor, because nothing will work smoothly for us without security of lives and properties.

“We must stop the killings; we must do that to enable our farmers go to their farms without fear of being killed.

“That way, we will have enough food to eat locally and even export, and that will also expand our revenue base,” he said.

The candidate, who promised to serve the state with the whole of his strength, assured that he would run an all-inclusive government.

“Nobody will be neglected; we shall run an all-inclusive government where everybody will be involved,” he pledged.

In his address, Chef Damishi Sango, chairman of the party in the state, urged the party supporters to peacefully protect their votes on election days.

He also urged Plateau residents to vote PDP at all levels in the forthcoming polls.
